In its recently-released report, Transparency Report - How Hong Kong Garment Companies Can Improve Public Reporting of their Labour Standards , Oxfam Hong Kong found that 16 major Hong Kong garment companies are not providing the public enough information on labour standards and practices in their supply chain.

Oxfam Hong Kong urges these garment companies to demonstrate a commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility through:

  1. Providing consumers with sufficient information on labour practices in their supply chains;

  2. Committing to ethical labour standards in the supply chain at the highest level of corporate management and ensuring labour standards are integrated throughout the company;

  3. Protecting and promoting labour rights, and thereby contributing to poverty reduction.

The 16 garment companies in the report are:

Esprit、Giordano、PMTD Limited 、Moiselle、Texwinca、Bossini、Heroic Rendezvous、Youth Grace International Limited、I.T Limited、Veeko、Lai Sun、Goldlion、G2000、Chickeeduck、U-Right 、F.C.K。

Let's turn the garment industry inside out - I have the right to know!

In 2004, Oxfam Hong Kong released the report Turning the Garment Industry Inside Out – Purchasing Practices and Workers' Lives, which explored purchasing practices in the garment supply chain. We also published the Resource Kit on Corporate Social Responsibility to further promote CSR within the business community in Hong Kong.

With our new report, we hope that we will once again draw local garment companies' attention to increased global awareness of labour standards and international best practices.

Dear Oxfam,
I am concerned about labour rights. I call on Hong Kong's top garment companies to improve transparency and public reporting of the labour standards in their supply chain. This will help consumers know whether labour rights are protected in garment production.
