More and more Fair Trade in Hong Kong

Oxfam Hong Kong is pleased to report that Cafe Direct, the UK’s largest Fair Trade hot drinks company as well as the UK’s first coffee brand to carry a Fair Trade trademark, is expanding its presence in Hong Kong. They will be introducing more and more Fair Trade products in Hong Kong.

For over a year, Oxfam Hong Kong has been working with retail shops, NGOs and cafes to carry and promote Fair Trade products, and today there are over 30 outlets, from Causeway Bay to Tuen Mun, that sell everything from tea to footballs to jeans. The Oxfam Shop has joined in, too. Do you want a link to the Oxfam Shop info on the OHK website?

Oxfam wants Fair Trade goods sold in as many places as possible, as it’s a way to get farmers and workers out of poverty, which after all, is the main goal of our agency. With more and more Fair Trade items available – such as those from Cafe Direct – more consumers can join the cause. Fair Trade also triggers more debate on how international economic systems and trade rules can either benefit or disadvantage people in poverty.
