Fair Trade in Hong Kong: Market Potentials and Challenges 公平貿易的市場潛力與挑戰 於五月首次在港舉行的公平貿易嘉年華，除了消費者反應熱烈外，之後更有不少公司及機構表示有意發展公平貿易。有見及此，樂施會於8月3至5日舉行了一連三天的公平貿易研討會，邀請了來自公平貿易標籤組織(Fairtrade Labelling Organisation, FLO) 傳訊主任Veronika Perez及國際公平貿易協會(The International Fair Trade Association, IFAT) 的代表Lucas Caldeira分享最新的市場趨勢，以及有關公平貿易的標準、監察和認證。希望透過此次會議，加深參加者對公平貿易的認識，並明白公平貿易的商業運作及各項技術性過程，進一步推廣公平貿易。 整個公平貿易會議分為兩部份，首兩天針對公司及各個團體，參加者多達60人，其中亦包括一些大型超市的代表，我們更有來自台灣、星加玻及越南的朋友出席會議。第三天為公眾座談會，亦有超過三十位來自不同行業背景的朋友。其實現時在香港可以買到的公平貿易產品已愈來愈多，今次研討會業界人士反應熱烈，可見公平貿易正慢慢地在香港紮根。 Ever since we launched our Fair Trade promotions campaign in 2006, and especially since Hong Kong's first Fair Trade Fair in May 2007, more and more groups and businesses have expressed interest in starting a Fair Trade business. That is why we invited Veronika Perez of the Fairtrade Labelling Organization (FLO) and Lucas Caldeira of the International Fairtrade Association (IFAT) to share with us their knowledge on Fair Trade standards, monitoring and certification, in a series of talks in Hong Kong. We hoped that the information they shared would deepen Hong Kong groups's understanding of Fair Trade, especially its business and technical side. More than 60 people joined the talks, including participants from supermarkets and retailers, as well as participants from the Mainland, Taiwan, Singapore and Vietnam. We also organised a public forum, which was attended by over 30 people from different backgrounds. Now that more and more Fair Trade products are available in Hong Kong, and judging from the enthusiastic response to the talks, we are confident that Fair Trade is set to grow at a fast pace in Hong Kong!
